However, the fact that it's a rip-off of one the most popular films ever made, has a horrible script that not even Denzel Washington could improve on, and is filled with product placements galore just makes the film absolutely horrible. Honestly, if you take Mac And Me as a kiddie film, it's not bad. This was one of them, and I'm quite surprised that Steven Spielberg didn't sue for royalties when this E.T. But it's still good, and above serviceable.In a bad way! Back in the late 1980's, quite a few movies that were considered to be among the worst ever made were coming out to theaters. Granted, at times the soundtrack sounds like Back to the Future or Space Mountain at certain points. It adds a few layers of depth and is high quality for this. The score for the movie is also really good. The rest of the characters are fairly one dimensional, but for this movie that's almost expected. This character point is never brought up again after that, and we're given exactly 0 explanation as to why she was doing that.
I will say though, when we first meet Eric's friend near the start of the film, she's sitting out by the road in a lot of Native American items. No one is acting over the top, and frankly, everyone is cast accordingly.
The acting, while mostly mediocre, isn't actually terrible. The characters within this specific scene are extremely cartoonish and over the top, including the ballet team and football team - and even Ronald McDonald in an overwise extremely busy McDonalds.īut where this movie is incredibly weird, it also has it's shining moments. It's so completely out of place, and yet it also works within the confines of this remarkably stupid movie. And then there are people dancing in the restaurant.
